Is Skin Lifting Without Surgery Possible?

Try googling for “face lifting without surgery” and you will see links to non-invasive skin tightening treatments (there are so many!), botox, fillers and even tutorials on facial exercises or workouts. Face gyms, they call it, involves anything from rolling a ball over your face, to slapping exercises, facial sculpting with jade. Muscle manipulation is believed by face gym fanatics to improve the appearance of sagging faces, and hopefully this reshapes one’s face to a more youthful visage in time. Whether 30 minutes of facial exercises is able to noticeably lift sagging skin remains to be seen but truthfully, I am skeptical of it, because it reminds me of older ladies I see at the gym who are even stronger than I am, but still have loose, crepey skin all over. Also, there is no certainty of anything. For example, how long will I need to do facial exercises before I can expect a visible facelift effect? At least for non-invasive skin lifting treatments such as the FDA-approved Ultherapy, I Continue Reading

Lip Rules We Learnt From The World’s Most Beautiful People

Plump lips, petite noses and large eyes. These are universal traits found in the most beautiful faces of the world. Botox Or Fillers: Which Is For You?

Botox and fillers have been around for years but we learnt that the difference between the 2 are not always immediately clear. So we’ve put together a guide to explain the differences between them so that you can work out which you would likely prefer to have. Of course you should always consult with an experienced injector and discuss which (or both) is more suitable for the improvements you want to make!    Botox Vs Fillers Botox (or Botulinum toxin) is a solution that is injected in very small, measured doses into specific facial muscles. By blocking nerve signals in the injected muscle(s), the resulting effect is temporary paralysis i.e. movement of these muscles of the face are restricted, resulting in softening or even disappearance of wrinkles. A typical Botox injection of smaller muscles such as those in the forehead, or outside the eyes last approximately 3 to 4 months. Obviously the higher the dose, the more long-lasting the treatment, but also the more “frozen” the look! Botox is Continue Reading

Pregnancy Glow Skincare: What To Use And What To Ditch

Pregnant women know what foods to avoid during pregnancy but ask them the same about pregnancy-safe skincare and chances are they won’t know which skincare ingredients are unsafe. Does that mean you should be resigned to looking drab for the next 9 months? According to Dr Low Chai Ling, medical director of the SW1 Clinic, author of pregnancy care book In Full Bloom (which details pregnancy-safe remedies for irritated or lacklustre skin from her professional and personal experience) and mother of 2, there is absolutely no reason for women to abandon their beauty routines during their pregnancies. She advises instead, simplify your beauty routine. “The more products you use, the more likely you are going to run into chances of using an unsafe product. So unless you are very sure, select your baby-safe skincare range that supports frequent cellular turnover and add specific serums or creams that target issues such as uneven skintone, pigmentation or greasy skin”.   Pregnancy-safe Anti-grease and Anti-Acne Products Blotting paper may not be everyone’s thing.
