Want to Maskfish?

Maskfishing, the new catfishing. This term, which was coined following the rise in usage of face masks, describes people who look better with a mask. Personally, I don’t think there should be a negative connotation to this word. If anything, it is just a new realisation that these people have pretty facial features, which have not been appreciated by others. Now that people recognise that they have pretty features, they should be proud of that! This has given me an idea on how to look more attractive with a mask on! Eyebrows You can disagree with me, but I think the only person who can make having no brows work is Jeffree Star. As for the rest of us, we need brows. In fact, I think having neat eyebrows are the most critical factor in helping us appear done up and ready for the day. You’re lucky if you have naturally thick brows because all you need to do is to ensure it stays in the right shape. As for Continue Reading

Ways to Prevent a Greasy Face

For my oily-skin pals, I understand your pain. I too have been seeking new ways to not appear so shiny throughout the day. Here are some recommendations that might work for you! Anything Green Tea If you observe facial products targeted at people with oily skin in the market, you would realise that green tea products are very popular. This is because green tea contains antioxidant elements to help reduce the sebum production on your face. Green tea clay masks would be especially useful to you because you would be able to absorb the dirt and debris on your face. The combination of green tea and clay would be helpful in the control of oil on your face. Mattify Complexion Another option would be to take steps to clear the oil on your face throughout the day. One product you could try is the Clear Tonic Mint-Infused Clarifying Facial Tonic. Apart from the refreshing mint smell, it is also very useful when it comes to purging the pimples and controlling Continue Reading

Squid Game (Skincare Edition)

I am sure many of you have heard of the highly raved Netflix series – Squid Game. Without spoiling it for anyone, in this series, participants participate in several seemingly easy games to see who emerge victorious. If you win, you get to take home $45.6 billion dollars. Sounds simple and enticing right? But with great rewards, comes great risks. The punishment of this game is fatal. Now it got me thinking, what if we had a survival gameshow adapted to skincare? If I were in charge, what kind of challenges would I put in place? After some thought, here’s what I would organize.   Skincare Routine I think it would be interesting to see everyone present what they think is the right way to put on their skincare products. Like the games involved in the show, it’s not difficult to be right, but also not difficult to be wrong. Cleanse, tone, serum, essence and then a moisturizer. 5 basic steps. But I have a strong feeling that many still Continue Reading

Could Botox Be Good For Me?

Botox is the go-to when you want to reduce the appearance of your facial wrinkles. But unbeknownst to most, Botox is not just effective in reducing the appearance of lines and facial wrinkles. They are also capable of treating other concerns that you may have. Better Skin Yes, Botox can help you achieve better skin! Injecting Botox onto the surface of the skin would cause the shrinkage of sebaceous and sweat glands, hence giving you a subtle glass skin effect. Since Botox is injected in small doses, the movement in major facial muscles is not affected. There’s no need to worry about being unable to laugh heartily when a friend tells a joke. You can read more about this in an interview done by SW1 Clinic’s founder, Dr Low Chai Ling!   Hyperhidrosis Apart from being used for aesthetic treatments, Botox is also very useful in the medical field. Being able to treat hyperhidrosis, a medical condition for excessive sweating is one of its specialities. How it works is that Continue Reading

Laser Aftercare Cheat Sheet

After investing time and money getting a laser, the last thing you want would be to have a worse skin condition because you did something you shouldn’t have. Here are some things that you should avoid as much as possible to protect your freshly lasered face! After a session of your favourite laser which targets wrinkles, redness, acne and enlarged pores (SylfirmX), you might be wondering if you would be able to carry on with your day-to-day activities. Though after the SylfirmX treatment, you can apply makeup, the general sentiment is to leave your skin makeup-free for as long as you can! It is a good time to let your skin take a breather instead of being packed with makeup. Apart from trying to be makeup-free, you should also avoid using harsh skincare products as your skin might be more sensitive in the next few days. You can think of your skin as a baby’s skin. You wouldn’t want to apply any harsh acid on that skin, would you? It Continue Reading
