There is (not surprisingly) a lot of confusion as to which lasers do what. There are so many lasers, so where is the best place to start? Here’s your quick guide to laser treatments for various skin concerns.
PIGMENT LIGHTENING: PORCELAIN SKIN PROGRAM
The Porcelain Skin Program is a gentle and effective for lightening pigments. Touted the workhorse of aesthetic lasers today. Laser light is absorbed by pigments in the skin, which causes pigments to shatter into a fine dust, which allows more efficient elimination of these pigments by the body. Compared to its predecessor, the nanosecond Nd:YAG laser, picosecond lasers work in ultrashort pulses (100 times shorter pulse duration than nanosecond lasers), which makes this laser treatment overall safer as well, especially for heat-sensitive pigmentation issues such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and melasma.
ANTI-REDNESS: HARMONY SKIN PROGRAM
The Harmony Skin Program is the laser program for people who battle facial redness. Using VBeam, a true vascular laser, it works by releasing a burst of light at the 595nm wavelength. A pulsed dye laser such as the VBeam treats small red vessels selectively, leaving surrounding normal skin intact. Highly effective for conditions such as rosacea and fresh, red acne scars.

CLOGGED PORES: PORE PERFECTION PROGRAM
Extraction facials might leave you looking worse than when you started. Instead, try the Pore Perfection Program to clear pores of gunk. The star of this program is the Laser Peel, which addresses clogged pores, oily and dull skin. A thin layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, and allowed to dry, before the picosecond laser light is passed over it. Because laser light is highly attracted to carbon particles, it causes mini carbon particle explosions over the skin’s surface and deep within pores, taking dead skin, oil and contaminants together with it.
DULL SKIN: BABYSKIN PROGRAM
Dull and lacklustre skin should look into the babyskin program. Using the BB Aquatouch, thulium laser which works in the 1927nm wavelength, this is a micro-resurfacing fractional laser which gently scrubs away sun damage, revealing fresh and baby smooth skin beneath. Touted the “photoshop” laser, expect brighter and glowing skin as early as the first or by the second session.

ANTI-AGING: NEOGEN PLASMA
Try a new, exciting skin rejuvenation treatment that uses plasma energy, which is converted from nitrogen gas via the Neogen System. Heating up the skin architecture in a controlled, uniform manner, which results in stimulation of collagen and elastin. Neogen can also be used to rejuvenate droopy eyelids and fine lines in the periorbital region.
