Why We Should Be Obsessed With The Perfect Pout

In the age of the beauty treatments such as fillers becoming almost as mainstream as teeth whitening, there is one beauty obsession that has found its place in the hearts of many – achieving the perfect pout.

In fact, lip augmentation isn’t exactly modern. The first known history of lip augmentation belongs to some of the ancient tribes where lips were pierced to draw attention from the opposite sex. From the 1900’s surgeons experimented with various fillers to augment women’s lips.

LIP ENVY

In 2015, Kylie Jenner, then aged 17 admitted to having lip fillers done, and there was a notable surge in lip filler enquiries globally.

According to Dr Low Chai Ling, Medical Director of the SW1 Clinic, people ask for lip enhancements more than you would think. “Natural lip fillers give you a little boost in volume, but not overtly, so your lips still look like you, just improved.”

Indeed. Revitalift Lips is one of their most popular lip augmentation treatments which uses very soft hyaluronic acid fillers for a subtle plumping effect. Hyaluronic acid fillers are also great for hydrating dry lips since they are primarily chief molecules of water. Last year, surprisingly, Kylie Jenner announced that she had her lip fillers removed, but what remains now appears to be more or less of a perfect pout, just more subtle.

In 2015, Kylie Jenner admitted that she had lip fillers done, and lip augmentation became one of the most requested in-office procedures. Last year she announced she had her lip fillers removed albeit evidently still owning a subtler, sexy pout.

Those with thin lips are better off with choosing lip fillers, which can involves reshaping the lips for better proportion in relation to the whole face. To avoid the dreaded trout pout, Dr Low advises that for the lips, less is often more, and be prepared for swelling for up to about a week. Moisturizing your lips well with something such as Rose Quartz helps with the initial lip chapping.

So as it stands, altering our lips has never been more popular than today, while it is clear that beauty ideals change and constantly evolve over time, it seems that the plump and sexy pouts are here to stay.
