Want to Maskfish?

Maskfishing, the new catfishing. This term, which was coined following the rise in usage of face masks, describes people who look better with a mask. Personally, I don’t think there should be a negative connotation to this word. If anything, it is just a new realisation that these people have pretty facial features, which have not been appreciated by others. Now that people recognise that they have pretty features, they should be proud of that! This has given me an idea on how to look more attractive with a mask on!

  • Eyebrows

You can disagree with me, but I think the only person who can make having no brows work is Jeffree Star. As for the rest of us, we need brows. In fact, I think having neat eyebrows are the most critical factor in helping us appear done up and ready for the day. You’re lucky if you have naturally thick brows because all you need to do is to ensure it stays in the right shape. As for the rest of us, we have other options. The classic way is to draw our brows on with an eyebrow pencil. More recently, people are opting for the semi-permanent way of microblading their brows. This way, you can say “I woke up like this!”

  • Having clean skin

With our masks on, the only visible part of our skin is our forehead. Though not necessarily true, having a pimple-free face gives off the impression that you are clean and neat. However, our forehead is part of our T-zone, which is prone to being oily. Sometimes, your hair is in contact with your forehead and your itchy hands touch your forehead. This introduces more dirt to that region which could result in pimple outbreaks or whiteheads.

To mitigate this issue, it is important that we use a gentle cleanser to effectively remove the grime and dirt accumulated on your face.  If you want that something that really unclogs your pores, you can consider going for a facial session. With special equipment like ultrasonic machines to exfoliate and remove impurities from your skin, you can expect clearer and softer skin.

  • Eyes

As cliché as the saying is, it is true that your eyes are windows to your soul. Especially since our eyes (and brows) are the only things capable of showing our emotions now, we should ensure that our eyes remain bright and youthful.

One way to do that is to ditch your spectacles! Spectacles are troublesome to wear on normal days as it tends to fog up, and it is even worse when we have to wear a mask. Other than that, your eye makeup looks better when there isn’t an obstruction there.

Those fine lines around your eyes are also a no-no as it adds on to your age. Erase those fine lines by introducing retinol into your skincare regime as it stimulates collagen production and keeps more lines at bay. You might also want to rejuvenate and revitalise your sleepy eyes with this Golden Eye Treatment that helps to firm and lift your eyes in 30 minutes. This is a quick pick-me-up that promotes fresher and younger-looking skin around your eyes!

Don’t be upset if people label you as a ‘maskfisher’. You should take it as a compliment because they are saying you have pretty eyes and eyebrows! For the rest of us, we will work with these tips and hopefully, we will be able to enhance our appearance too (in the most efficient manner of course! I mean, who even puts foundation on the bottom half of their face nowadays?)
