The most famous celebrities are adored for their good looks – big eyes, luscious lips, a roundish forehead, glossy tresses and a sharp nose coming harmoniously together on a flawless canvas. The nose, in particular, starting between the eyes is part of the focal point of our faces, so it follows that the morphology of our noses is important.
The asian nose, in particular in Southeast Asia, is often less-than perfect looking – those with flat bridges and bulbous, round nose tips are left desiring something more lifted, sharper and more defined.
There are so many ways to make the nose look more perfect. Obviously there is plastic surgery and there is also makeup. But there is the stigmata of going under the knife and changing one’s looks forever, and on the other hand, there isn’t as much appeal with using makeup.
And this is exactly why the non-surgical nose job is probably one of the most commonly requested filler procedures done in Singapore today. It gives one the chance of improving a poorly defined nose without downtime, and the results are usually relatively subtle compared to the surgical rhinoplasty. Makeup contouring can give the illusion of a more well-defined nose, but let’s face it, it requires a decent amount of makeup to be applied (and time). More importantly, the rhinoplasty has always been attractive because the implant raises the bridge, and rotates and changes the size of the tip, makes the base and nostrils more narrow.
TYPES OF NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOBS
If you are completely new to this, the non-surgical nose job usually refers to nose fillers, or nose threadlift. The nose filler procedure augments the nose with dermal fillers, most commonly the hyaluronic acid filler with a hardness capable of lifting the nose bridge. Nose fillers can also be used to improve the appearance of the nose tip or slightly rotate it to improve the nasolabial angle. Nose fillers last approximately 9 to 18 months, depending on the type of filler used.
Similarly, a nose threadlift makes subtle improvements to the height of the nose bridge and refines the tip, but with biocompatible “threads”. These are often PDO (polydioxanone) threads, which have small barbs for a lifting effect. Several threads are inserted each time depending on how much lift is desired. The Infinity Nose Lift give a more slender nose bridge than most nose filler jobs do (and you can see why this is popular with the Asian Chinese and in Korea and Japan).
Non-surgical nose jobs do not actually change the size of the nose, even though the nose can look more lifted or often look smaller after the procedure.
THE LOW-DOWN ON NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOBS
So you have 2 ways of improving the appearance of your nose without surgery, which should you choose? Here are some of the main differences to consider:
1. You May Not Be Suitable For One Of Them
If you have a hump on your nose, or a crooked nose, you will need filling in of the gap with nose fillers instead of threads. On the other hand, someone with a broad nose will not do well with nose fillers. For this group of people, nose threads will have a more effective lifting effect.
2. Nose Threads Have Slightly More Downtime
There is usually very little downtime for both nose fillers and nose threads, but generally nose threads may require 1 or 2 days more than fillers for recovery. However fillers have the same risk of bruising as the nose threadlift, which can extend the recovery time by approximately 3 to 5 more days.
3. Nose Threads Are Not As Easily Reversible As Fillers
The best thing about using fillers is that it can be readily dissolved with a simple injection, a real life-saver if you don’t like your new nose, or in very rare cases when filler is injected into a blood vessel (a risk that threads do not have). That said, nose fillers can migrate along the sides of the nose, giving a broadening effect. Hence nose threads are popular because of the sharp and more well-defined bridge.
4. You Can Do Both Nose Fillers And Nose Threads
In some noses where a broadening effect is likely, nose fillers may be combined with nose threads for a more appealing and natural result. This often creates more lift as well. In the 3D noselift, fillers may be placed inside the corner of the brows and tapering to the start of the nose bridge, so that the newly augmented bridge looks a whole lot more natural, very much like contouring the nose!
So, filler, threads, or both?
